About
Get to know Henry, his background, and the real-world experience that shapes his practical, straight-up approach to psychology.
Meet Henry — a psychologist who knows life can get messy, and talking about it doesn’t have to be. With a practical, straight-up approach and plenty of real-world experience, Henry helps people make sense of what’s going on and work out what to do next.
Henry brings something a little different to psychology. Alongside his clinical training, he’s spent years working in the real world — from serving as an Army Medic to working as a Paramedic in the mining industry and now in private psychology practice.
Since 2014, Henry has worked with people from all walks of life and in some pretty different environments. That experience has shaped the way he works today: practical, down-to-earth and focused on the person in front of him.
He knows that asking for help isn’t always easy, particularly for men, veterans, first responders and people who don’t feel at home in a traditional clinical setting. Henry believes therapy doesn’t need to be stiff, formal or packed with jargon to be effective. It should be genuine, grounded and something you can actually get something out of.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.
Henry takes the time to understand your situation, what’s important to you and what you want to change. From there, he draws on evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy and Schema Therapy.
The goal isn’t to throw a bunch of psychological jargon at you. It’s to give you a better understanding of yourself, practical tools to deal with what’s going on, and a path towards making meaningful changes.
